A group of scientists are preparing the "MOCNESS" for use later that night. The MOCNESS has nine separate nets, which can sample small fish and plankton at nine different depths before the net is brought back aboard. The MOCNESS can also record the depth, temperature, and salinity of the seawater at each of the nine depths towed.
