The results of a semi successful evening of bottom fishing on the 100 fm (600 feet/182 meters) contour off Necker Reef. Kenji, our lead fisherman, carries his catch of ehu (pronounced "ay hoo") to the cooler. The catch was a "semi" success as we were trying to catch juvenile onaga (pink snapper) for a study on eye ball morphology. The intent of the study is to gather data on how the onaga's eye may change allowing better function at certain depths as the fish matures, and thus may be a determining factor in the depth at which these fish can live at different age cycles. |
