In this picture, two of our crew and a Teacher At Sea (center) deploy the CTD over the side of the ship. Our Teacher At Sea this trip is Gary Dewey, a science teacher from Holland Christian Middle School in Holland, Michigan. The Teacher At Sea program allows interested school teachers to accompany NOAA's research ships on cruises and assist with operations. The program's purpose is to expose teachers to oceanographic and marine biological research, enabling them to share their experiences with their students.
