Top Left: This is a newly described yellow tailed damsel fish whose distribution is restricted to the central pacific. Top Center: This golden Hawk-fish is also rare, known only to the Phoenix and Line Islands and French Polynesia. It is the only one of it's species known to exhibit yellow
color. Top Right: These fish are a mystery. They may be a juvenile of the species Cesio that are related to snappers. Bottom Left: This red tipped grouper usually found well below safe diving depths. The western site of these islands experience upwelling of cold water bringing deep water organisms to the near surface. Bottom Center: This vibrant reef fish is a gold flaked angel
fish. Bottom Right: A blue fin Trevally threatens a large school of convict fish.
