Chlorophyll distribution with depth and lattitude.
This graph is a compilation of all the CTD casts (42) we performed along the 158W longitude line. Here we have projected chlorophyll levels (phytoplankton) against depth and latitude (south to north). As you move to the right of the graph (to the north along the transect), the chlorophyll concentrations move towards the surface more. This chlorophyll represents the base of the food web and is associated with higher numbers of fish where its concentrations are high.
