The longline is pulled in at first light. Each end of the 12 mile
longline is marked with a radio buoy so that we can find it in the morning. The
leaders are unclipped from the line and then stowed in the tubs again after the
old bait is taken off the hook. When a hook has a fish or shark on it and we
stop everything and haul the fish on board to be sampled, or tagged and
released. At the extreme left of this picture you can see the large reel that
the longline is spooled onto.
