Just in from the Ship

June 27, 2000  The TOWNSEND CROMWELL is now at Maro Reef. We arrived Sunday and began setting lobster traps. We pulled the traps Monday morning and set them again in a different area in the afternoon. At night we are doing ADCP transects and CTDs at night here at Maro Reef as well.

When you are fishing for one thing and you catch something else its called "by-catch". We are catching a variety of bottom dwelling critters and fish in the lobster pots this trip. This offers us a rare treat because many of these creatures are seldom seen.

The cruise continues to go well. We have a few days left here at Maro Reef and then we sail back to Honolulu arriving a day after the fourth of July.
